Hardness: Resists wear and bending
Toughness: Handles impact without chipping
Top-quality blades make burr-free cuts—this is the main sign of a good blade.
Chemical Composition (Typical): C 0.85-0.95%, Cr 0.90-1.20%, Si 1.20-1.60%, Mn ≤0.40%, P ≤0.030%, S ≤0.030%
How Components Help: Cr boosts hardness and wear resistance; Si makes hardening easier and improves toughness; C provides basic cutting hardness.
Best for: Thin cold-rolled, galvanized, aluminum, copper plates; plastic, leather
Key Traits: Hard, wear-resistant, balanced, good value
Hardness: HRC 58-60 (after heat treatment)
Chemical Composition (Typical): C 1.40-1.60%, Cr 11.00-13.00%, Mo 0.40-0.60%, V 0.15-0.30%, Mn ≤0.40%, Si ≤0.40%, P ≤0.030%, S ≤0.030%
How Components Help: High C + Cr = great wear resistance and hardening; Mo reduces bending during heat treatment; V makes the metal grain finer, improving toughness and preventing chipping.
Best for: Stainless steel, silicon steel, high-strength steel, Q235, aluminum, copper plates
Key Traits: Very wear-resistant, tough, little bending during heat treatment, long life
Hardness: HRC 58-60 (after heat treatment)
Chemical Composition (Typical): C 0.55-0.65%, Cr 1.00-1.30%, W 2.00-2.50%, Si 0.60-0.90%, Mn ≤0.40%, P ≤0.030%, S ≤0.030%
How Components Help: W keeps hardness at high temps and improves wear resistance; Cr makes hardening easier; Si boosts toughness and prevents chipping.
Best for: Hot shearing, light stainless steel, medium-strength steel
Key Traits: Has W and Si; good at high temps, resists chipping
Hardness: HRC 60-62 (after heat treatment)
Chemical Composition (Typical): C 0.32-0.45%, Cr 4.75-5.50%, Mo 1.10-1.75%, Si 0.80-1.20%, V 0.80-1.20%, Mn 0.20-0.50%, P ≤0.030%, S ≤0.030%
How Components Help: Cr + Mo = good strength and resistance to heat damage; V makes grains finer, improving toughness and wear; Si protects against oxidation at high temps.
Best for: Hot-sheared strip steel, thick plates, cold-sheared high-strength alloy steel, stainless steel thick plates
Key Traits: Strong at high temps, tough, resists heat damage, no easy softening/bending
Hardness: HRC 50-55 (after heat treatment)
Chemical Composition (Typical): C 1.40-1.60%, Cr 11.50-13.50%, Mo 0.70-1.20%, V 0.50-1.10%, Mn ≤0.60%, Si ≤0.60%, P ≤0.030%, S ≤0.030%
How Components Help: More Cr and C than Cr12MoV = better wear resistance and hardening; Mo and V improve toughness and prevent bending, good for heavy cutting.
Best for: Medium/low-hardness plates (Q195/Q235/45# steel/40Cr), aluminum/copper plates, non-metals (plastic, rubber, paper, fiberboard, composites)
Key Traits: High carbon/chromium, very wear-resistant, resists bending
Hardness: HRC 58-62 (after heat treatment)
Chemical Composition (Typical): C 0.65-0.75%, Cr 6.50-7.50%, Mo 1.80-2.20%, V 1.80-2.20%, Si 0.80-1.20%, Mn ≤0.50%, P ≤0.030%, S ≤0.030%
How Components Help: V + Mo = finer metal grains, better bending strength and toughness; Cr ensures hardness and wear resistance; Si makes hardening easier and boosts toughness.
Best for: High-strength steel, stainless steel, thick plates, hard-to-cut metals (for large hydraulic/CNC shears)
Key Traits: Strong, tough, wear-resistant, resists chipping; fine grains from V and Mo
Hardness: HRC 58-62 (after heat treatment)
Straightness and flatness: Reduce stress on machine parts, preventing early wear.
Our blades (including Amada replacements and custom length guillotine knives) are CNC-ground to tight limits.
This ensures smooth operation, consistent burr-free cuts, and longer life for blades and machines.
Check Blade Gap: Regularly check and adjust the gap to avoid uneven wear (hurts cut quality and blade life).
Regrinding Schedule: Regrind blades regularly to restore sharpness. This is cheaper than replacing them early (especially for Amada replacements).
Operate Within Limits: Don’t overload the machine or cut materials too hard—this causes chipping or bending.
