ALAS blades are usually made from 9CrSi, 6CrW2Si, Cr12MoV, H13, H13K, or LD. They have a rectangular cross-section and hardness of HRC50 to 62, delivering precise, burr-free cuts. Custom blades are available per your drawings. 9CrSi Alloy Tool Steel

  • Chemical Composition (Typical): C 0.85-0.95%, Cr 0.90-1.20%, Si 1.20-1.60%, Mn ≤0.40%, P ≤0.030%, S ≤0.030%

  • How Components Help: Cr boosts hardness and wear resistance; Si makes hardening easier and improves toughness; C provides basic cutting hardness.

  • Best for: Thin cold-rolled, galvanized, aluminum, copper plates; plastic, leather

  • Key Traits: Hard, wear-resistant, balanced, good value

  • Hardness: HRC 58-60 (after heat treatment)

Cr12MoV / SKD11 High Carbon High Chromium Steel

  • Chemical Composition (Typical): C 1.40-1.60%, Cr 11.00-13.00%, Mo 0.40-0.60%, V 0.15-0.30%, Mn ≤0.40%, Si ≤0.40%, P ≤0.030%, S ≤0.030%

  • How Components Help: High C + Cr = great wear resistance and hardening; Mo reduces bending during heat treatment; V makes the metal grain finer, improving toughness and preventing chipping.

  • Best for: Medium/low-hardness plates (Q195/Q235/45# steel/40Cr), aluminum/copper plates, non-metals (plastic, rubber, paper, fiberboard, composites)

  • Key Traits: High carbon/chromium, very wear-resistant, resists bending

  • Hardness: HRC 58-62 (after heat treatment)

LD (7Cr7Mo2V2Si) Cold Work Die Steel

  • Chemical Composition (Typical): C 0.65-0.75%, Cr 6.50-7.50%, Mo 1.80-2.20%, V 1.80-2.20%, Si 0.80-1.20%, Mn ≤0.50%, P ≤0.030%, S ≤0.030%

  • How Components Help: V + Mo = finer metal grains, better bending strength and toughness; Cr ensures hardness and wear resistance; Si makes hardening easier and boosts toughness.

  • Best for: High-strength steel, stainless steel, thick plates, hard-to-cut metals (for large hydraulic/CNC shears)

  • Key Traits: Strong, tough, wear-resistant, resists chipping; fine grains from V and Mo

  2. Regrinding Schedule: Regrind blades regularly to restore sharpness. This is cheaper than replacing them early (especially for Amada replacements).

  • Sticky materials (stainless steel, titanium, aluminum, copper): Choose Cr12MoV or SKD11—their high Cr content prevents sticking and chipping, making cutting faster and better.
