ALAS blades are typically made from materials such as 9CrSi, 6CrW2Si, Cr12MoV, H13, H13K, and LD. The blades have a rectangular cross-section and a hardness of HRC50 to 62. They provide high-precision, burr-free cutting surfaces. Customization according to drawings is available.

Detailed Characteristics of Various Blade Materials

9CrSi Alloy Tool Steel

Characteristics: High hardness, excellent wear resistance, medium toughness, balanced comprehensive performance, high cost performance, and the most widely used material;

Hardness: HRC 58-60 (after heat treatment);

Applicable to: Thin cold-rolled plate, galvanized plate, aluminum plate, copper plate; it can also shear non-metallic materials such as plastic and leather.

6CrW2Si Alloy Tool Steel

Characteristics: Contains tungsten and silicon alloy elements, excellent red hardness (ability to maintain hardness at high temperature), higher strength and hardness than 9CrSi, excellent shearing performance, better toughness and chipping resistance than 9CrSi;

Hardness: HRC 60-62 (after heat treatment);

Applicable to: Hot shearing operations, as well as shearing of light stainless steel and medium strength steel.

Cr12MoV / SKD11 High Carbon High Chromium Alloy Tool Steel

Characteristics: Excellent wear resistance and hardenability, medium toughness, small heat treatment deformation, long service life, and can bear a certain impact load;

Hardness: HRC 58-60 (after heat treatment);

Applicable to: Shearing low carbon steel of various thicknesses, Q235, aluminum plate, copper plate and thin low carbon steel.

H13 (4Cr5MoSiV1) Hot Work Die Steel

Characteristics: Excellent high temperature strength, impact toughness and thermal fatigue resistance, can maintain good hardness and shearing performance in high temperature environment, not easy to soften and deform;

Hardness: HRC 50-55 (after heat treatment);

Applicable to: Hot shearing strip steel, hot shearing thick plate, cold shearing high strength alloy steel and stainless steel thick plate.

D2 (American Standard)

Characteristics: High carbon and high chromium alloy steel, wear resistance and hardenability are far superior to ordinary alloy tool steel, strong anti-deformation ability and excellent chipping resistance;

Hardness: HRC 58-62 (after heat treatment);

Applicable to: Shearing medium and low hardness plates: Q195/Q235/45# steel / 40Cr and other steel, aluminum / copper / brass / red copper plate; shearing non-metallic materials such as plastic / rubber / paper / fiberboard and composite materials.

LD (7Cr7Mo2V2Si) Cold Work Die Steel

Characteristics: A high-performance cold work die steel with high strength and excellent toughness. Its contained V (vanadium) and Mo (molybdenum) significantly refine the grain, giving it extremely high bending strength and toughness, better wear resistance, and extremely strong chipping resistance;

Hardness: HRC 58-62 (after heat treatment);

Applicable to: Shearing high strength steel, thick plate, stainless steel and various hard-to-shear metal materials, commonly used for blades of large hydraulic shearing machines and heavy CNC shearing machines.

Powder Metallurgy Steel (e.g. ASP23, ASP60)

Characteristics: Made by powder metallurgy process, hardness HRC 62-65+, ultimate wear resistance and chipping resistance, uniform structure, stable performance, a special material for high-end precision blades;

Applicable to: High-end precision shearing operations and working conditions with extremely high requirements for wear resistance and service life.

Simple Guide for Blade Material Selection

Shearing ordinary carbon steel (Q195, Q235, etc.): Prioritize 9CrSi and Cr12MoV, with high cost performance, suitable for basic shearing needs of all thicknesses;

Shearing medium and low hardness steel / aluminum and copper plates (45# steel, 40Cr, aluminum plate, copper plate, brass / red copper plate, etc.): Choose SKD11 and D2, with wear resistance, anti-deformation and long service life;

Shearing light stainless steel and medium strength steel: Choose SKD11 and D2, which balance wear resistance and chipping resistance with stable shearing performance;

Shearing stainless steel thick plate, high strength alloy steel / cold shearing hard-to-shear thick plate: Choose H13 and LD, with high strength, excellent toughness and extremely strong chipping resistance;

Hot shearing strip steel, hot shearing thick plate / high temperature working condition shearing: Special H13 and H13K materials, resistant to high temperature softening, with excellent thermal fatigue and impact resistance;

High-end precision shearing, high-frequency heavy shearing / working conditions with high requirements for wear resistance and long service life: Choose powder metallurgy steel (ASP23/ASP60, etc.), with ultimate wear resistance and shearing precision and the longest service life.

Notes

Higher blade hardness is not always better, and hardness and toughness need to be balanced: Excessively high hardness is prone to chipping, while excessively low hardness is prone to passivation. It is necessary to select reasonably according to the shearing material and operation load;

For the same material, the heat treatment process directly affects the performance: High-quality materials need to be matched with professional quenching and tempering processes to give full play to their advantages such as wear resistance and toughness;

For sticky knife materials (such as Stainless steel, titanium alloy, aluminum, copper and its alloys): Prioritize Cr12MoV and SKD11, which can effectively prevent knife sticking and chipping, and improve shearing efficiency and quality.

Mechanical blades are (special wearing parts) due to different cutting products, correct and reasonable selection of materials, heat treatment hardness, grinding accuracy, packaging requirements. Please contact us before purchase and confirm whether the blade specifications materials you need are available goods.

Our quality: All mechanical parts, tools, and molds are manufactured in-house. Upon arrival at our warehouse, products undergo rigorous inspection by a dedicated quality control department. The following is our production process:        

1. Blanking-choose materials according to customer requirements.
2. Forging-Forging is mainly to increase the density of the material.
3 .Annealing-to lower the temperature for processing.
4 .Finishing ---- mainly processing materials.
5 .Inspection ---- Inspect whether the product is consistent with the drawing sample.
6.Quenching ---- Improve the hardness of molded products and materials.
7 .Annealing-In order to increase the wear resistance of the product, it must be annealed for a long time to prevent the blade from breaking
8 .Tempering-mainly the parallelism of the tempering products for processing.
9 .Rough grinding ---- rough grinding the surface of the product.
10.Precision grinding ---- Super-precision grinding and mirror grinding to improve the accuracy and parallelism of the product.
11. Inspection-Let unqualified products refuse to flow into the market.
12 .Packing ---- Pack differently according to different products.
