Protect the Mill Housing: The mill housing is the most valuable fixed part of the rolling mill. Bearing chocks move often during rolling. Wear plates act as consumable parts to take the wear, so the expensive housing is not damaged. Replacing wear plates is easier and cheaper than repairing the housing.
Guide Bearing Chocks Precisely: To make rolled steel plates of even thickness, bearing chocks must move stably up and down. Wear plates guide them, stop them from swinging sideways, and keep rolls in the right position under high pressure.
Buffer Impact Energy: When steel billets enter the rolls, strong vibration and force are produced. Wear plates spread this force evenly to the housing and reduce impact. This prevents cracks on the housing.
Prevent Corrosion & Aid Lubrication: Rolling mills have cooling water, emulsion and scale. Wear plates work with the lubrication system to block scale and isolate water, reducing wear and corrosion on the housing.
