Our rebar bending machine pins and mandrels are engineered to withstand the extreme pressures of heavy-duty steel fabrication. Manufactured from premium 40Cr or 45# carbon steel, each pin undergoes a specialized quenching and tempering process to reach an optimal hardness of HRC 45-52. Why Different Diameters for Forming Shafts?

  • Rebars of different diameters need different bending radii.

  • Changing the forming shaft ensures accurate bending angles and avoids rebar damage.

I. Why Heat Treatment Hardness (HRC) Matters for Bending Machine Pins

Bending machine pins are core load-bearing parts, under radial pressure, torsion and friction. Heat treatment hardness directly affects:
  • Service life

  • Working stability

  • Operational safety

Pins with poor hardness fail quickly, causing equipment breakdowns or accidents.

Key Functions of Proper Hardness

1. Wear Resistance & Deformation Prevention

  • Pins touch rebar and bending discs directly; rebar has high hardness and slides during bending.

  • Low HRC leads to quick wear, dents or deformation, affecting bending accuracy.

  • Qualified pins: Surface hardness HRC45~55 (core load-bearing surface: HRC58~62) for wear resistance and stability.

2. Compressive/Torsional Strength & Fracture Prevention

  • Pins bear large radial pressure and slight torsion during bending.

  • Low hardness causes deformation; poor hardness-toughness match causes brittle fracture.

  • Tempered pins (quenching + high-temperature tempering, HRC45~55) have both strength and toughness, avoiding fractures and safety hazards.

3. Lower Maintenance Costs & Continuous Operation

  • Qualified pins wear slowly and need less frequent replacement.

  • Poor hardness leads to frequent replacement, higher costs and construction delays.

  • Summary: HRC is key to wear resistance, deformation resistance and fracture resistance. Pins with unqualified hardness cannot meet working needs.

II. Drawing Parameters for Custom Special-Shaped Pins

Drawings must include basic dimensions, process requirements and material requirements to ensure accurate matching. Details are as follows:

1. Basic External Dimensions (Tolerances Required)

  • Pin section diameter + tolerance (e.g., h6/h7 for mating sections, f8 for non-mating sections); section length + tolerance

  • Special-shaped structure dimensions (keyway/groove width/depth, taper angle/length; mark no transition angle clearly)

  • End dimensions (flat/round/countersunk head; mark spherical radius for round heads, countersunk hole depth/diameter for countersunk heads)

2. Process & Heat Treatment Requirements

  • Heat treatment process: Specify overall process (e.g., tempering, surface hardening + tempering) + hardness value (e.g., overall HRC45~50, surface HRC58~62); mark hardness testing position.

3. Material Requirements

  • Base material: Recommended 45# steel,40Cr or 42CrMo (42CrMo is better for special-shaped heavy-duty pins).
