It is engineered for long-term continuous ambient temperature shearing where abrasive wear resistance is the primary requirement. AISI H13 is a hot-work tool steel featuring excellent thermal stability and impact toughness (HRC 52–55). It is engineered to withstand thermal cracking and heavy impact shock in hot-rolled or high-stress environments, though it has lower ambient wear resistance than D2.
