ALAS engineers and manufactures high-performance industrial steel stamps, interchangeable character types, and custom engraving dies. Designed for industrial parts traceability, our tooling delivers permanent batch coding, serialization, and logo branding on sheet metal, structural steel, and non-ferrous alloys via manual hammering or mechanical press integration.
Our precision-grade stamps feature CNC-engraved, mirror-image characters with controlled typographic edges. This geometric profile functions like an industrial cutting edge to deliver clean, deep, and well-defined impressions on target metal surfaces.
Feature / Item | Industrial Specification & Customization Options |
|---|---|
Product Names | Industrial steel stamps, marking punches, interchangeable type sets, logotypes, character inserts |
Character Range | Standard Gothic digits 0–9, uppercase letters A–Z, and common symbols (/, -, .). Custom characters or 2D DataMatrix blocks manufactured to order. |
Character Height | Standard availability: 2.0 mm to 10.0 mm. Custom micro-stamps (<2.0 mm) or oversized heavy punches (>10.0 mm) manufactured to order. |
Character Layout | • Standard: Reversed/Mirror-image (produces a readable, positive indented impression on the workpiece). • Custom: Positive/Standard orientation for specialized industrial embossing or mold-cavity manufacturing. |
Material Options | • Premium High-Wear Grade: Cr12MoV / D2 / SKD11 • Premium High-Speed Grade: M2 / SKH51 • Economic Grade: 45# Steel (AISI 1045) / T8A |
Hardness Spectrum | Vacuum heat-treated and tempered to specific operational requirements:• HRC 60–62 (D2 / M2): Specified at this range for optimized toughness and anti-chipping reliability in high-cycle production; higher hardness available on request.• HRC 45–50 (AISI 1045): Specified as a cost-effective process window for soft metals/plastics and type-holder shank bodies; higher hardness available on request. |
Surface Finish | Black oxide anti-corrosion coating, industrial rust-preventative oil saturation, or precision side-wall grinding for secure fixture alignment. |
Tool Integration | Manual hand-strike holders, pneumatic marking hammers, automated press ram adapters, or continuous progressive die slots. |
Individual Hand Stamps: Single-piece heavy-duty punches with square or hexagonal shanks optimized for manual hammer striking.
Interchangeable Type Sets: Standardized steel character tiles slotted into manual or machine-mounted type holders for rapid alphanumeric sequence changes.
Integrated Marking Dies: Single-block solid matrix dies featuring multi-digit codes or corporate logos for unified, single-stroke press marking.
Perpendicular Force: Hold or fixture the steel stamp strictly perpendicular to the workpiece surface. Deflected angles or misaligned double-strikes cause uneven character depth, blurred outlines, and premature tool edge failure.
Workpiece Stability: Secure the target part in a rigid fixture or anvil before stamping. Perform sample marks on scrap material to calibrate the exact tonnage or hammer impact velocity required for the target depth.
Operator Protection: Character edges and struck shanks contain sharp boundaries. Operators must wear safety goggles and heavy-duty protective gloves during manual or machine-assisted stamping operations.
Tool Maintenance: Periodically clear compressed metal filings from the character face using a wire brush. Apply anti-rust oil and store in a dry, indexed case. Discontinue use immediately if the shank end shows mushrooming or if the character face cracks.
A: Yes. However, tool steel selection is critical. For soft aluminum, copper, or lead, our economic AISI 1045 steel stamps are sufficient. For tough stainless steel, titanium, or structural high-carbon steel, you must select our vacuum-hardened D2 or M2 premium grades to prevent character face flattening.
A: Chipping risk increases with off-center striking, workpiece hardness approaching or exceeding the stamp’s effective working range (often cited around HRC 40 for standard sharp-face tooling), or excessive press tonnage. Keeping the tool perpendicular, rigidizing the workpiece fixture, and matching the proper tool steel grade (such as high-toughness M2) to your material tensile strength maximizes tool life.
A: Yes, but you must verify regulatory stress-concentration standards. For safety-critical, pressure-bearing components, we recommend ordering our low-stress dot‑matrix (round-faced) character profiles instead of standard sharp-V profiles to minimize stress concentration in the atomic structure of the material. Stamping location, depth, and character profile should be confirmed against applicable standards and customer specifications (e.g., ASME Section VIII Div.1, Section III, and relevant UN/ISO/GB cylinder regulations) before production.

Eliminate flattened character faces, blurred codes, or edge chipping on high-strength alloys. Upgrade your serialization lines with ALAS Machinery. We manufacture precision steel stamps, interchangeable type sets, and integrated marking dies engineered for manual holders, pneumatic hammers, or automatic press rams. Select your tool steel specification: premium D2 or M2 High-Speed Steel (HRC 60–62) for high-tensile stainless steel stamping, or economic AISI 1045 (HRC 45–50) process-window tooling for soft metals and plastics. For safety-critical, pressure-bearing components, we customize low-stress dot-matrix profiles compliant with ASME and UN/ISO regulation standards to minimize stress concentration risks. Accepting low MOQ orders from 100 pieces with a direct factory quotation delivered within 12 hours.
