What Are High-Performance Rotary Slitter Knives?

Also called slitting machine blades, these are key precision cutting tools for metal coil slitting lines. They spin at high speeds (in upper/lower pairs) to cut wide metal coils into narrow strips of your desired width. They are vital for metal coil processing in many industries, and their precision impacts cut edge flatness, burr-free results, and slitting efficiency.

  • High Precision, Burr-Free Edges: Cutting edge tolerance is controlled to micron level. Slit coils have flat, non-curled edges with no burrs, so no extra processing is needed.

  • Fully Customizable: Adjust outer diameter, inner diameter, thickness, and cutting edge angle to fit your material and slitting machine. Supports circular, irregular, and upper/lower blade sets.

  • Stable at High Speeds: Even heat treatment means little deformation. Stable operation at high speeds ensures consistent strip widths, reducing waste and improving material use.

Main Types

  • Circular Rotary Slitter Knives: Most common, disc-shaped. Adjust multiple blades for different widths. Good for standard slitting (steel, aluminum, ordinary stainless steel coils).

  • Irregular-Shaped Knives: Custom designs (stepped/beveled edges) for hard-to-cut materials (thick coils, hard alloys). Fits special slitting machines and high-precision tasks.

  • Upper/Lower Matching Blades: Used together as a pair for even cutting force. Standard for all slitting machines; works for all coil sizes.

  • Soft non-ferrous metals (aluminum, copper, brass): HSS or alloy tool steel – smooth cuts, less material sticking/scratches.

  • Galvanized/color-coated strips: Cr12MoV (HRC 58-60) with mirror polishing/nitriding – protects coatings, no zinc loss/scratches.

2. Other Key Processes

  • Heat Treatment: Vacuum quenching for even hardness, less chipping/breakage.

  • CNC Machining: Precision lathes/grinders for strict tolerance control.

  • Custom Cutting Edges: Small angles for thin materials, large angles for thick/hard materials (polished for smooth cuts).

Daily Use & Maintenance (Extend Lifespan)

  • Installation: Check for chipped/burred edges before installing. Ensure blade and spindle alignment; tighten securely to avoid wobbling.

  • Parameter Adjustment: Set blade spacing and cutting gap based on material thickness. Too big = burrs; too small = more wear.

  • Operation & Storage: Clean metal chips during use. Rust-proof idle blades; store in a dry, flat place (avoid collisions).
