ALAS H13 Rebar Cutter Blades – Professional Integrated FAQ

1. What blade materials are available, and how do they perform?

We supply three types of industrial alloy steel blades to fit different construction working conditions and budget needs. Each material delivers distinct performance for rebar cutting work:
9CrSi (Alloy Tool Steel)This is our most budget-friendly option. It offers good hardening performance and easy machining, making it ideal for small and medium construction projects. It works perfectly for cutting regular low and medium-strength rebar.
Cr12MoV (Cold Work Die Steel)A high-grade wear-resistant material with high carbon and chromium content. After professional heat treatment, it boasts outstanding wear resistance and far longer service life than 9CrSi. It is widely used for continuous cutting of standard high-strength rebar.
H13 (Hot Work Die Steel / Red Hard Steel)Our top-tier option that balances toughness and wear resistance perfectly. It resists chipping well and stays stable under high heat. It is the best choice for high-speed production lines, online cutting of hot-rolled rebar, ultra-thick rebar, and mixed scrap rebar cutting.

Why H13 outperforms 9CrSi & Cr12MoV in heavy-duty cutting?

Heavy rebar cutting creates strong mechanical impact and thermal friction. 9CrSi does not have enough hardness for heavy-load work, while Cr12MoV is overly brittle and cracks easily. Our premium H13 steel is formulated with 5% Chromium, 1% Molybdenum and 1% Vanadium. It maintains a stable hardness of HRC 50–55 while delivering excellent core toughness. It can withstand harsh cutting impacts without cracking or breaking, making it the most reliable material for continuous high-tensile rebar cutting.

2. What international steel grades match ALAS H13 blades?

To support global purchasing and ensure full compatibility with worldwide cutting machines, our H13 rebar blades strictly follow international metallurgy standards, fully equivalent to three mainstream global grades:
  • US Standard: AISI H13

  • German Standard: DIN 1.2344 (4Cr5MoSiV1)

  • Japanese Standard: JIS SKD61

Strict standard compliance ensures stable material composition, high purity and uniform internal grain structure. Our blades fit all mainstream European and Asian cutting equipment perfectly with zero dimensional errors or installation issues.

3. Why do blades chip or soften? How does vacuum heat treatment fix this?

Chipping and softening are the most common blade failures during rebar cutting, mostly caused by poor material selection and low-standard heat treatment.
Main reasons for blade chipping
First, wrong material choice: Hard but low-toughness steel will chip or fracture when cutting large-diameter or high-strength rebar. Second, improper blade gap: Uneven gap between upper and lower blades leads to unbalanced stress and edge chipping. Third, incomplete heat treatment: Unrelieved internal stress leaves hidden structural flaws in ordinary blades.
Benefits of ALAS vacuum heat treatment
Most cheap blades use regular atmospheric quenching, which leaves residual internal stress and a soft core, causing easy deformation and damage. All our ALAS H13 blades adopt precise computer-controlled vacuum heat treatment. This process completely removes internal stress and delivers consistent hardness from the blade core to the edge. Most importantly, it fully unlocks H13’s unique red hardness. Even with continuous high-speed cutting and rapid temperature rises, the blade edge stays hard and stable, with no softening, deformation or chipping.

4. Which material works best for HRB500E high-strength and thick rebar?

H13 steel is our exclusive recommendation for HRB500E ribbed high-strength rebar, ultra-thick rebar and high-frequency continuous cutting tasks. Featuring superior impact fatigue resistance, H13 handles constant harsh cutting impacts effectively. It avoids blade breakage and unexpected machine downtime, fully meeting heavy-duty industrial cutting requirements.

5. Can you make custom non-standard blades for foreign or special machines?

Yes, we provide full 1:1 OEM and ODM custom services for non-standard blades, compatible with all brands of cutting machines, including Italian, German and domestic Chinese equipment.
We have a large stock of standard-size blades for fast delivery, including 78×78×17mm, 80×80×30mm, 83×83×26mm and 100×100×20mm.
For custom orders, simply provide your detailed technical drawings (including length, width, thickness and bolt hole spacing), specify the steel grade (9CrSi / Cr12MoV / H13), and confirm your processing needs (rebar diameter and strength grade). Our full CNC workshop will produce perfectly matched, plug-and-play replacement blades.

6. What cost benefits does the 4-sided square blade design bring?

Our square H13 blades are precision CNC ground with four usable cutting edges. Unlike regular single-edge blades that have to be discarded once dull, our blades can be rotated 90 degrees to use a brand-new sharp edge after one side wears out. This practical design quadruples the service life of each blade.
Paired with proper daily maintenance, it greatly cuts down blade replacement frequency and reduces your overall tooling cost per ton of processed rebar, delivering excellent long-term value for your project.

7. How to maintain blades for longer service life?

Basic daily maintenance can greatly improve blade performance and extend its lifespan. We recommend three simple but effective operations:
  • Rotate edges on time: Our blades come with 4 or 8 usable edges. Rotate the blade immediately when one edge turns dull to make full use of the blade.

  • Tighten mounting bolts: Keep blades firmly installed. Even slight looseness will cause strong impact during cutting and damage the blade edge.

  • Set a proper blade gap: Adjust the blade gap to around 10% of the rebar diameter. A standard gap ensures balanced stress and smooth cutting, preventing premature chipping and wear.

8.What are the best hydraulic & electric rebar cutters for construction sites?

Why H13 Rebar Cutter Blades Are Ideal for Heavy-Duty Cutting

On construction and infrastructure sites, H13 rebar cutter blades — also known as high-toughness rebar shear knives, wear-resistant bar cutter blades, anti-chipping rebar cutter tooling and heavy duty tool steel shearing knives — are must-have parts. Cheap standard blades easily chip when cutting high-strength rebar such as HRB500E and Grade 60. This leaves rough cuts, slows down work and increases your running costs. H13 blades solve this common issue effectively.

1. Reliable Material Performance

H13 is a premium hot-work tool steel blended with balanced alloys:
  • Main components: Carbon, chromium, molybdenum, silicon, manganese and vanadium

  • Impurities like phosphorus and sulfur: Controlled under 0.030%

Core advantages
  • Hardness: HRC 50–55

  • Great toughness and shock resistance, not easy to crack or chip

  • Stays stable after long hours of heavy cutting

  • Works well under high heat for thick, high-strength rebar

Its unique alloy mix balances hardness and toughness. The material absorbs strong impact during cutting, so edges stay intact. These premium shock-resistant cutter blocks stand up to daily heavy use perfectly.

2. Compliant with Global Standards

H13 steel matches two widely recognized international material grades:
  • German DIN 1.2344

  • Japanese JIS SKD61

Blades marked H13 Steel Grade Equivalent 1.2344 SKD61 fit most overseas rebar cutters with no fitting errors. Your machines can run steadily all day long.

3. Fine Craftsmanship & Heat Resistance

Quality H13 blades go through two key production steps:
  • Vacuum heat treatment
  • Full CNC precision grinding
  • Eliminates internal stress, ensures even hardness from core to cutting edge
  • Boasts strong red hardness: Will not soften or go blunt even when heated by continuous cutting
  • Sharp edges last far longer than those of regular blades

4. Smart Design & Cost Benefits

We provide two main types to fit different machines:
  • Square blades (4 usable edges): Simply rotate the blade when one edge wears out. Service life is extended 4 times, ideal for large-scale cutting jobs.

  • Rectangular blades (1–2 usable edges): Perfect for small rebar cutters.

Both types deliver clean cuts with no burrs. The finished rebar is ready for immediate use. Standard sizes fit popular cutter models including GQ40, GQ50 and GQ60.

5. Recommended Applications

H13 blades are your best choice for the following work:
  • Large construction projects like bridges, highways and dams

  • Cutting thick high-strength rebar (size #8 and above)

  • Frequent, non-stop cutting work
