The mill housing is the largest and most valuable fixed part of the rolling mill.
During rolling, bearing chocks move up/down and back/forth frequently.
Wear plates act as consumable parts to take all the wear, protecting the expensive housing from damage.
This makes maintenance easy: just replace the wear plates instead of repairing the whole housing.
To ensure rolled steel plates have uniform thickness, bearing chocks must move stably up and down in the housing window.
Wear plates guide bearing chocks, stop them from swinging horizontally, and keep rolls in their preset position even under heavy pressure.
When steel billets enter the rolls, they cause strong vibration and force.
With good shock absorption from bi-metal technology, wear plates evenly transfer thousands of tons of rolling force to the housing.
They also absorb and disperse impact energy to prevent cracks on the housing.
Rolling mills have cooling water, emulsion and iron scale inside.
Wear plates work with the lubrication system to form a protective layer.
They stop hard iron scale from causing wear, and prevent cooling water from corroding the housing.
