1. Blade Material Types & Key Details
1.1 9CrSi Alloy Tool Steel
Features: Hard, wear-resistant, medium toughness, good value, most widely used
Hardness (after heat treatment): HRC 58–60
Use for: Thin cold-rolled, galvanized, aluminum, copper plates; plastic, leather
1.2 6CrW2Si Alloy Tool Steel
Features: Contains tungsten/silicon, stays hard at high temps, stronger than 9CrSi, better toughness
Hardness (after heat treatment): HRC 60–62
Use for: Hot shearing; light stainless steel, medium-strength steel
1.3 Cr12MoV / SKD11 High-Carbon High-Chromium Steel
Features: Very wear-resistant, easy to harden, medium toughness, long life, resists small impacts
Hardness (after heat treatment): HRC 58–60
Use for: Low-carbon steel (all thicknesses), Q235, aluminum, copper plates
1.4 H13 (4Cr5MoSiV1) Hot-Work Die Steel
Features: Strong at high temps, tough, resists heat damage, stays hard/sharp in high heat
Hardness (after heat treatment): HRC 50–55
Use for: Hot shearing strip steel/thick plates; cold shearing high-strength alloy/stainless thick plates
1.5 D2 (American Standard)
Features: Very hard/wear-resistant, resists deformation, hard to chip
Hardness (after heat treatment): HRC 58–62
Use for: Medium/low hardness steel (Q195/Q235/45#/40Cr); aluminum/copper/brass; plastic/rubber/paper
1.6 LD (7Cr7Mo2V2Si) Cold-Work Die Steel
Features: Strong, tough, fine grain (from vanadium/molybdenum), wear-resistant, hard to chip
Hardness (after heat treatment): HRC 58–62
Use for: High-strength steel, thick plates, stainless steel; large hydraulic/CNC shears
1.7 Powder Metallurgy Steel (e.g., ASP23, ASP60)
Features: Made via powder process, very hard (HRC 62–65+), ultra-wear-resistant, stable performance
Use for: High-precision shearing; high wear/service life needs
2. Simple Material Selection Guide
Ordinary carbon steel (Q195, Q235): Choose 9CrSi or Cr12MoV (good value)
Medium/low hardness steel/aluminum/copper: Choose SKD11 or D2 (long life, wear-resistant)
Light stainless steel/medium-strength steel: Choose SKD11 or D2 (stable cutting)
Thick stainless steel/high-strength steel: Choose H13 or LD (tough, hard to chip)
Hot shearing/high temps: Choose H13 or H13K (resists heat softening)
High-precision/heavy cutting: Choose powder metallurgy steel (ASP23/ASP60)
3. Important Notes
Harder is not better: Balance hardness and toughness (too hard = easy to chip; too soft = easy to dull)
Heat treatment matters: Good materials need proper heat treatment to work well
Sticky materials (stainless steel, aluminum, copper): Choose Cr12MoV or SKD11 (prevents sticking/chipping)
