High-Performance Hot Shearing Blades for Steel Mills
Our blades provide precise cutting for red-hot steel at 800°C–1000°C in steel rolling lines. Stable cutting performance reduces frequent production shutdowns and keeps continuous operation.
1. Introduced Blade Materials
We provide various materials for cold shear and hot shear blades. For high-temperature cutting applications, we mainly recommend two premium tool steel materials below. They fit hot shearing blades, plate shear replacement blades and steel fabrication blades.
6CrW2Si
Features: Tungsten-silicon alloy, high hardness, heat resistant, less edge chipping
Hardness: HRC 55–62 (after heat treatment)
Applications: Hot shearing, light stainless steel, medium-strength steel
H13
Features: Excellent heat resistance, great toughness, no softening or bending under high temperature
Hardness: HRC 50–55 (after heat treatment)
Applications: Heavy hot shearing (steel strips, thick plates), cold shearing of high-strength alloys and thick stainless steel
2. Precision Grinding & Flatness
High-quality blades require good flatness besides excellent material properties.
Flatness control: Straightness error ≤ 0.02mm for long blades, achieved by precision grinding
Optimized blade gap: Reduces cutting heat, delivers smooth cuts without extra polishing
3. Quick Blade Selection Guide
Medium-strength steel, light stainless steel: 6CrW2Si
Thick stainless steel, high-strength alloy, heavy-duty hot shearing work: H13
4. Tips to Extend Blade Service Life
Rotate cutting edges: Most blades have 2–4 usable edges. Regular flipping doubles service life.
Adjust blade gap: Set proper clearance according to material thickness to prevent edge chipping.
Regular lubrication: Lubrication reduces blade wear by 15% and keeps blades sharp longer.
Important Notes
Higher hardness is not always better. Blades need balanced hardness and toughness. Over-hard blades chip easily; soft blades dull quickly.
Professional heat treatment is essential for stable blade performance.
For sticky metal materials, proper gap adjustment prevents blade adhesion and damage.
5. Core Advantages of Our Hot Shear Blades
Long working life comes from fine material quality and professional heat treatment.
Superior red hardness
Our H13 and 6CrW2Si blades stay hard and sharp even under extreme high temperatures.
Strong thermal fatigue resistance
Multi-stage tempering resists damage from repeated heating and cooling cycles, avoiding early blade failure.
Excellent anti-deformation performance
Uniform internal hardness prevents cutting edges from bending under heavy cutting pressure.
6. Application Scenarios
Hot crop shears: Clean head and tail cutting for steel strips
Bloom & billet shears: Heavy-duty cutting for primary steel materials
Bar & rod mills: High-speed hot shearing for long steel products
Flying shears: Balanced blades for continuous high-speed production lines
